Carosel;3D final piece

In this project i had to create a final piece just using the material paper, whist doing this project i came across and amazing 3d paper sculpture artist called Su Blackwell, her work really inspired me to create my piece from a book and to make the book come alive once opened, i ahve uploaded two pieces of her work that really caught my eye and inspired my work. (the top two photos)
My idea was based on The Enchanted Garden, i used a book to be the substance of my 3d piece i drew half a tree onto on side of the center double page spread and then cut around it with a scalpal i repeated this 16 times i then scrunched up my tree to make it look more realistic so when i opened up the book the tree opens up like a hidden garden.

Carosel; 3D

This week was 3d week the project was based on paper manipulation and how you can manipulate paper to convey a meaning or message, above are experimentations i was working on to see what folds and types of paper worked best. I then went on to manipulate books folding them to create diffrent shapes and trying to see if you can fold an entire book until it forms a 3D piece.

Carosel;Fine art

This was fine art my 3rd week of the carosel i made an instalation for this piece as the project was based on the word wonderland but it was such a widely based project it could be anything realted to wonderland just your perception of the word or place. I used a book as the main part of my instalation by cutting out the inside i then painted the inside with pastel calm coloured paints i added texture with paper and i made flowers and a swing with string, i really liked this piece as i felt it was very simple but communicated the word wonderland in a very sophisticated way i then used my instalation to place in diffrent enviroments around campus to show my photography skills and the diffrent aspects of my idea and the concept and meaning behind the word wonderland.

Fashion;

My first week into the carosel was in fashion, i really enjoyed experimenting with materials and creating new pieces and outfits from old pieces, for example we had to re-create a garment from an existing pair of shoes and materials, clothing or bags.

Above is my final design i based this piece in a charcter from our fashion show in which we wore all our old materials to create a new look, our character was a pimp but a women therefore i based my design on a mysterious women in hiding and therfore wears masculin clothes to prevent being noticed.

UCA-Canterbury; Foundation in Art & Design

it's my first week into the course, firstly we are put into a group to start the carosel which we then do a week in each specialism for example, fashion (which i started in) viscom, fine art, photography,3d which at the end we choose what subject suits us most and we do the rest of the year in that specialism.

Igot put into a really nice group i found it really easy to fit in and make new friends, i really like meeting a wide range of people with all diffrent intrests and skills also people that where intrested in the same thingss as i am, i got to really know these people within the first wekk as we had to work within groups towards a piece of work that combined all our final ideas that where based around our summer enviroment project and the enviroment of the university.
Above is my final piece as a group all our work was of simular colours which meant they blended very well togther so we could easily lay them out just next to one another unfortunately i have no photograph of the layout.
