Neil Kelly Live Project;

Neil Kelly came in and asked for 5 of us to create a board game that was suitable for 5year olds on a ladybird storybook, i chose Hansel & Gretel, firstly i had to draw my own modern version of the characters and the main parts of the story like the sweet house and the witch, i decided to do a maze as the story is about the characters trying to escape and get back home, i drew the board game by hand and all the characters and coloured them in by hand and scanned them into the mac to [place them onto the board game and increae the levels to add a better quality of colour. i also changed the background by using the magic wand tool and selecting the background with the magic wand tool so all the colour was the same, this was my final outcome.

Handjob Poster Final Ideas ?; Comment Away :)

These are a few of my final ideas although only the orange one is in a poster format i tried all these ideas in different colours and arranged the type in different places, i created this by drawing my hand and filling it with black illustration, i then scanned the image in and used it as my base to add the type i also created my own type by tracing around a print out of a Helvetica font and experimenting within the typeface, i scanned the type in and changed the colours in illustrator using the magic wand tool and selected the same areas, i then added helvetic neue light as my sub heading fonts.
I Hope you like my ideas if you have any comments or improvements please comment....

Progression;

One of my earlier posts i was considering & researching into an illustration course in UCA Maidstone however i feel i may need to develop my drawing skills further and build up my portfolio so i have looked into a fine art course at UCA Maidstone that is only a Year long and will help me improve my drawing skills and add to my portfolio, which will then help me progress onto the illustration course.

I entered the 2012 logo competition and i was 1 of 6 finalists, four of the finalists where from my course, we all had to travel up to Canary Waulf for an interview and present our presentation about how we created our idea and how it meets the brief we where also interviewed recorded and had to have lots of photographs taken. a member of our course Reiss then went onto win the competition.

Typography; Handmade Type

I have just started my typography project and one of the 2 main aims is to create a handmade type poster, in class the other day i hand drew alphabets in different styles including:
  • Handwriting in Caps
  • Handwriting in lowercase
  • 3D Caps
  • Joined lowercase
  • Negative space
  • curly
  • leopard print
I then scanned my favourites into the mac and made a live trace and added colour.
I Also researched into the handmade font website,
http://www.handmadefont.com/
Also into Mike Perry's Hand Job Type Book & found it very useful and exiting to get inspiration from.
