Icon Project;

This new project was based on our own icon and our perseption of this icon or iconic object or material, i chose to bse mine on water as it is something that is natural and you can not live without it, i started this project by researching into water and what it is needed for why others use it i questioned people about there use and understanding of its importance, how they would cpe if they didnt have clean water, i researched into water around the world and lack of clean water.

Fanzine Fair

(Had already gone just hadn't updated my blog had it all in a journal at the time) We have a fanzine fair to sell all our fanzine's, and any materials for example postcards envelopes cakes at the fair and uca canterbury, i was selling my fanzine's for £2., i had black and white paper versions which i sold for £1 and and coloured paper versions for £1.50 i made around £12 however i didnt sell all of my zine's so i made my money back and still have other's if anyone would like to purchase one from me.

Fanzine Final Piece;

Above are photo's i took of my fanzine, this was my final piece.

Fanzine Project;

From the trips i have been on i felt that bricklane was the most intresting part to me i had some realy beautiful pieces of infomation i had found collated materials textures and drawing therefore i began to create imagery realted to what i see smelt and saw and worked up my original first hand continous and blind drawing's i began to piece them together as a collage and spot colour image.This became my strongest way of working therefore i had so muc information based on both places i had visited i began to combine the two in this format of working after a group crit in which i was told this way of working was very imaganative and that i could therefore compare the two places. I combined all my drawings, prints ect to create a long strip of collaged work that became my final fanzine that i then got printed onto tracing paper so you could see it clearly and the empty space added to the landscape of the imagery.

Fanzine Project;

Next i had a trip to london where i visited Bricklane, which i found the most intresting part i collated alot of information from my personal senses, what i saw, felt, smelt around me i did lot's of drawings from first had and took lot's of photo's i felt that the very detailed and imaganative graffiti around the area was the most beautiful and imaganative thing about the area therefore i wanted to base my fanzine project around london and bricklane as a beautiful place rather then it's sterotypical slums of london. Photo's will be added i need to make them into JPEG'S from scans in my sketch book and prints that i did after the trip.

Fanzine Project;

In this project we had to start of by collating as much primary reaserch on London and broadstairs as possible, for exaple questionaire's, drawings, historical reaserch, sterotypical assosiations and realted things with the places. The first week i visited Broadstairs as my first part of the reaserch we went as a group allthough it was an awful day, it was bloody freezing and raining so hard! we got absolutly soaked and was unable to collate inforamtion outside therefore we spent times in bars, coffee shops which i feel is the heart of broadstairs anyway as we got to see the people that live there and are there through every season rather then just at its beauty in the summer.

Candy Jernigan;

While doing the Margate project i came across an artist who collates things found materials, discarded materials, things other's think are rubbish or things that are assosiated with a subject matter or place for example. she then stores them all in little bags to document her thoughts and feelings about the place or subject matter. I found her work very intresting and diffrent and i thought it was a really intresting and imaganitive way to communicate an idea and show other's what you saw and thought at the time, above are example's of her work that inspired me to collate information in this way.

Starting Visual Communication-Margate.

The first week of the visual communication, in this week we went on a research trip to Margate where we learnt how to collate inforamtion quickly, we did blind drawings and continuous line drawing's i had never done this before this was drawing on a page without looking at the paper only at the thing you was drawing and you wasn't aloud to take the pen off the paper. Some of my drawings came out really badly and you couldn't really tell what the image was however others were just abstract versions of what i was drawing and i really like this way of working as you only end up drawing what you see to be important. I will upload photo's at a later date as they are in my sketch book. I also collated materials that i found around the area to help show others visually what the area was like.

The End Of The Carosel;

It has come to the end of the carosel now (well all these post's are being posted now however are based upon notes and pictures i have been documenting throughout the course) It was now time to choose the pathway which i felt would most benifit my future and which pathway would be most suited to my ideas and skills.Although i really liked all the pathways as i feel i really benifited from all the workshops and experimentation with processes and materials. I felt that visual communication would be the best pathway for me as i could use all the skills, materials and processes that i had been doing in all the pathway's just as long as it communicated my idea.

Carosel;Photography

In this week we had workshop's and free time to experiment with a camera and diffrent lighting and how u can manipulate an image without having to edit the image.

Then for my final i decided to make an annimation i was inspired by a group photo taken by me leah emily and liv, the annimation was based on split personality as the project was called "i am here"but me and leah paired up and took photo's of us one after the other moving around campus to show how you can be two diffrent people.

Carosel;3D final piece

In this project i had to create a final piece just using the material paper, whist doing this project i came across and amazing 3d paper sculpture artist called Su Blackwell, her work really inspired me to create my piece from a book and to make the book come alive once opened, i ahve uploaded two pieces of her work that really caught my eye and inspired my work. (the top two photos)
My idea was based on The Enchanted Garden, i used a book to be the substance of my 3d piece i drew half a tree onto on side of the center double page spread and then cut around it with a scalpal i repeated this 16 times i then scrunched up my tree to make it look more realistic so when i opened up the book the tree opens up like a hidden garden.

Carosel; 3D

This week was 3d week the project was based on paper manipulation and how you can manipulate paper to convey a meaning or message, above are experimentations i was working on to see what folds and types of paper worked best. I then went on to manipulate books folding them to create diffrent shapes and trying to see if you can fold an entire book until it forms a 3D piece.

Carosel;Fine art

This was fine art my 3rd week of the carosel i made an instalation for this piece as the project was based on the word wonderland but it was such a widely based project it could be anything realted to wonderland just your perception of the word or place. I used a book as the main part of my instalation by cutting out the inside i then painted the inside with pastel calm coloured paints i added texture with paper and i made flowers and a swing with string, i really liked this piece as i felt it was very simple but communicated the word wonderland in a very sophisticated way i then used my instalation to place in diffrent enviroments around campus to show my photography skills and the diffrent aspects of my idea and the concept and meaning behind the word wonderland.

Carosel; Vis Com

I am so behind with this blog i have all the notess and pictures to upload just haven't got round to it soo this work is from the carosel even though i have posted it late it is still all the thingss i did and thought then as it is based on my notes and memories.Above is the piece i created for my week in visual communication the project was based on mapping and i chose to base mine on mapping out making tea and i made this 3D book with imagery that i had monoprited of instructions on how to make tea and people's views on the best cup of tea ect...
